Aerial View of Kotzebue, Alaska
Somewhat of an illusion, it is not an island. Three sides are surrounded by water and one is connected to the great tundra land land mass of Alaska. There are approximately 3,800 people in Kotzebue, the largest of the villages in the Northwest Arctic Burough.
The large building with a light blue roof on the upper right of the picture is the Maniiaq Association Health Center and is responsible for the health care of this village as well as nine other villages in the region.
