| My grandmother lives in Kotzebue, Alaska. It is an Inupiat Eskimo Village north of the Arctic Circle. I asked her why does she like to live there and she said she likes the cold, the snow and the peace of a small village. I like to go to movies and the mall, but I also like to come and be with my grandmother. |
| Here is a picture of some of the kids playing on the waterfront of the Kotzebue Sound. I loved to play in the water and pick up rocks along the shore. It is only a little ways from my grandmothers house and I just walk there. All of the wood on the shoreline is debris that came after all the ice melted. There is still some ice in the water. My grandmother says that when the ice melt out of the rivers, it digs into the banks and tears out the trees. Then they float out of the river into the Kotzebue Sound. This is good, because then my grandmother can get wood to burn in her fireplace. She says the Creator is sending wood to the people who can not go out and chop the trees. |
